We’re getting closer! There are still so many potentially great films that we haven’t even seen a still image of yet. TIFF and Venice are just around the corner though and we plan on promptly updating these right after.

Oscars: Updated Predictions – April

So I finally updated these. A few things have cleared up, but even almost halfway into 2016 there are still many question marks.

If I had to make a super early call though, I’d say “The Birth of a Nation” is probably your Best Picture winner this year. “Silence,” “Billy Lynn” and other will give it a run though.

Keep checking our the Oscar page for the most updated predictions!

SN: Video Game movies need to make money this year

Assassins-Creed-1SN: Video Game movies need to make money this year

I’m talking specifically about “Warcraft” and “Assassin’s Creed” to films coming out in 2016 that are based off of very successful games. Both of which are likely to make little money, especially given the history of Video Game movies.

“Prince of Persia: Sands of Time” was the most financially successful video game movie, and it was still considered a box office bomb. And after so many failed attempts can we really expect the film industry, which is about business first and art second, to invest more money into these adaptations?

Top 10: Most Anticipated Films of 2016

fassbenderheaderTop 10: Most Anticipated Films of 2016

2016 may be an even more interesting year for the movie industry. We dive deeper into the “Star Wars” franchise, we expand the “Star Trek” and “Harry Potter” franchises and DC Comics arrives super late to the comic book adaptation game.

Some of these films make my top 10, but not all of them. I’ve notably excluded “Batman v. Superman: Dawn of Justice” because I’m really not excited for it. I’m also not particularly excited for any Marvel film (“Captain America,” “Deadpool,” “Doctor Strange”), not excited for many reboots such as “Ghostbusters,” and not really excited for sequels such as “Finding Dory” or “Zoolander 2,” even though both could turn out very good.

Here are my personal top 10 starting with some honorable mentions:

Honorable Mentions: Passengers, Assassin’s Creed, Voyage of Time, Midnight Special, The Jungle Book
