Oscars: 2016 Winner Predictions and Full List

revenant-gallery-16-gallery-imageOscars: 2016 Winner Predictions and Full List

After “The Revenant” scored 12 nominations on Thursday morning, you have to start thinking that the HFPA favoring “The Revenant” to “Spotlight” wasn’t just a fluke.

We’ll watch and follow the momentum, there is still plenty of time before the Oscars, but we’ve seen this momentum change at the end all too often in the past few years. Primarily when it was supposed to go to “Boyhood” but went to “Birdman” and in 2011 when it was supposed to go to “The Social Network” but went to “The King’s Speech.”

Watch for the PGA and DGA winners as well to notice any significant momentum shift. “Spotlight” should win SAG and PGA, but I think all “The Revenant” needs is a push from a DGA win to secure its victory. If “The Revenant” wins PGA? Well, then it’s over.

The Screen Actors Guild will announce both their film and television nominees Wednesday morning.

Usually SAG voters eyeball the front-runners, however many of them miss the late films (Joy, The Hateful Eight, The Revenant), and they usually throw us a curveball or two.

See here are our quick predictions on what will go down Wednesday morning, once the nominees are announced we will scramble to finalize our Golden Globe predictions factoring in what we’ve seen this season.

This may be our second to last Golden Globe Predictions unless something significant happens.

The HFPA recently stated that both “The Martian” and “Joy” would be considered comedies. Other notable activities included rejecting Rooney Mara and Alicia Vikander’s placement as “Supporting Actresses.”

We have made all of these updates. We have also done the Television categories. You can keep watch here to see if anything changes between now and the week before the nominations are announced.

Awards: How the Awards Season will Start – NBR, NYFCC, LAFCA and more

thumbnail_23485Awards: How the Awards Season will Start – NBR, NYFCC, LAFCA, and more.

A lot of what happens in the pre-cursor awards will determine the outcome of the bigger ceremonies such as the Globes, SAG, Critics Choice, and the Oscars.

Before the end of the year we will have a couple of these. These predictions can be pretty bold cause many of these critics groups are fairly unpredictable.

We looked at the National Board of Review Award, the New York Film Critics Circle, the LA Film Critics Association, the Screen Actors Guild Nominees, and the Critics Choice Award Nominees.

These won’t be as detailed as our Globes or Oscar Predictions, but it’s still important to look at them anyway. Continue reading

Golden Globes: Updated Film Predictions – October

Room-trailerGolden Globes: Updated Film Predictions – October

We have updated our Film Predictions for the Golden Globes. We were going to do the television shows as well, but it seems like not much has changed there.

Click here to see Movie and Television predictions.

Big steps have been made by “Joy,” “Spotlight,” and “Room.” However, there are still many films to be seen. “I Saw the Light” gets pushed to 2016, making the “Musical/Comedy” categories even more obscure.
