A reddit post had me thinking about movies that made me emotional. I love movies, I get deep into movies, but they have never made me cry as an adult.

Like many people, I get tears in my eyes especially at the big reveal in “Up” or in shows like “Breaking Bad” or “Avatar: The Last Airbender.” I just don’t cry.

SN: The simplicity of Good vs. Evil

file_611766_Sicario-Trailer-Emily-Blunt-Clouds-320SN: The simplicity of Good vs. Evil

I had the pleasure of screening Denis Villeneuve’s “Sicario” a few days before its release, and it was tremendous. A beautiful film that reiterated the point that there is a fine line between good and evil. To say someone is inherently good or evil is to diminish what it is to be human. Humans are flawed, all of us with sporadic good and bad qualities.

Emmys: Best Writing – Drama

BB6Best Writing – Drama

“Ozymandias” – Breaking Bad
“Felina” – Breaking Bad
“The Secret Fate Of All Of Life” – True Detective
“Chapter 14” – House of Cards
“The Children” – Game of Thrones

Last Update: 07/12/14

Many consider “Ozymandias” the best episode of “Breaking Bad,” though it failed to receive a directing nomination, so “Felina” could easily be the “Breaking Bad” episode that voters love.

Emmys: Best Directing – Drama

Walt_and_Holly_FelinaBest Directing – Drama

“Felina” – Breaking Bad
“Who Goes There” – True Detective
“The Watchers On The Wall” – Game of Thrones
“Chapter 14” – House of Cards
“Farewell Daddy Blues” – Boardwalk Empire
“Episode 1” – Downton Abbey

Last Update: 08/06/14

“Breaking Bad” should have the edge in both writing and directing categories. This one, however, contains two episodes that can easily rival the finale. “The Watchers On the Wall” and “Who Goes There” both have impeccable direction by Neil Marshall and Cary Joji Fukunaga.
