SN: Unseen films still Oscar front-runners

Joy vs. The Revenant vs. The Hateful Eight

As all of the main festivals – NYFF, TIFF, Telluride – conclude, there is no clear front-runner. By this time last year it was known that “Boyhood” and “Birdman” were prominent. Two years ago it was “12 Years a Slave” and “Gravity.”

Great films out of those festivals this year include “Steve Jobs,” “Spotlight,” and “Room” all of which receive accolades similar to: “Fantastic movie… won’t win Oscar, but will be nominated.”

Three major players are left now: “Joy,” “The Revenant,” and “The Hateful Eight.” All pitted with rumors, but only “Joy” has concrete evidence.

Many reactions came from a “Joy” test screening a few days ago that proclaimed the film the new front-runner. Many saying that David O. Russell, after 3 stellar attempts, will finally have his Oscar winner.

As far as the two westerns are concerned – “Are they Oscar friendly?” continues to be a question. Rumors say that “The Revenant” is incredible, the cast and crew have had nothing but good things to say about it. While “The Hateful Eight” has similar rumors behind it.

Interestingly enough, “The Hateful Eight” will also have an overture and an intermission (something many of these 3 hour films have needed for awhile.)

If all three ultimately fall flat, then what? Well there are still more that haven’t been seen such as “In the Heart of the Sea” or “By the Sea.” But I’d say look at the three listed at the top of the article, which seems highly unlikely.

In our poll, you all say that “The Revenant” is the one to beat. It may have two more formidable rivals.

Hi! Quick question that’s entirely off topic. Do you know how
to make your site mobile friendly? My weblog looks weird when viewing from my iphone 4.

I’m trying to find a theme or plugin that might be able to correct this problem.

If you have any recommendations, please share.
    With thanks!

With my theme I was able to go under “Appearance” I believe and there were settings for iphone/tablet. Also when you choose a theme there are usually icons on the bottom left of the editor that let you see what it’d look like on phone or tablet.
